Making Headlines: What Everyone is Talking About
Las Vegas is still on the news, quickly becoming the United States’ largest mass shooting, killing 59 and injuring over 500. The motives for the shooter remains unknown and conspiracy theories have begun to arise. Marilou Danley, the gunman’s girlfriend, is currently undergoing FBI questioning. Danley had been in the Philippines until today but is still considered a “person of interest” in this case. It is unclear as to how much she knew.
President Trump landed in Puerto Rico yesterday and many are already criticizing his actions, from the throwing of towels at pseudo-rallies, to the comment about “throwing the budget out of whack,” to more recently inviting San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin to participate in a meeting with DC about Puerto Rico, yet making sure she doesn’t speak.
The Las Vegas shooting came at an opportune time to shelf the debate over silencers. Silencers allow shots to be fired at a much quieter level and was a conversation happening this week. A law that would limit the regulations on the sale of silencers would have gone into effect, the conversation is far from over, but for the time being has been silenced.
Ban on Abortion
With Trump backing it, the House has officially approved a ban on abortion after 20 weeks. The Bill has been called the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. While the bill isn’t expected to pass the Senate, at the end of the day, it is the furthest a bill like this has gone, and a huge win for the pro-lifers.
His harshest critics must acknowledge that @realDonaldTrump shows true leadership in the war on reality.
