Making Headlines: What Everyone is Talking About
Category 4 Hurricane Maria has struck Dominica and Puerto Rico and it’s now on its way to the Dominican Republic. Hurricane Maria is the strongest hurricane to hit Puerto Rico since 1932 and President Trump is being urged to declare the island a “Disaster Zone.” This comes after just hours of declaring 7 deaths in the island of Dominica.
Earthquake in Mexico
A 7.1 magnitude earthquake has hit 100 miles southeast of Mexico City on Tuesday, killing over 248 people. This is the second major earthquake to hit Mexico in the last couple of weeks. Fires and structural damages have plagued the city, nearly 5 million people are without power.
President Trump at the UN
President Trump’s speech at the UN centered around North Korea, in particular, getting the countries that form the UN to put pressure on North Korea to stop their quest for Nuclear Missiles or else the US is prepared to “completely destroy the country.” People are also talking about what President Trump chose to call Kim Jung-Un, (new AKA) “Rocket Man.”
Earthquake in Japan
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake has shaken the northeast coast of Japan. The affected area is just 200 miles from the Fukushima nuclear power plant and the closest city to the quake was 175 miles away. Japanese citizens were said to feel “weak” tremors.
