Donald Trump’s attempt to repeal and replace Obamacare has been the topic of much debate and has been met with much backlash. So much so that even some Republicans lawmakers are against it. However, Republican Congressman, Blake Farenthold is pointing the finger at a few female Republicans for why Obamacare has not been repealed. On a Friday radio interview Farenthold, he stated, “Some of the people that are opposed to this — there are some female senators from the Northeast — if it was a guy from South Texas, I might ask him to step outside and settle this Aaron Burr-style.” This is in reference to the famous duel between former Vice President, Aaron Burr, and former Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton, which ended in Hamilton being fatally shot.

Responding to criticism, Farenthold released a statement on Monday and said he was, “sick and tired” of the Democratic media trying to fabricate a story. He also went on to say that his comments during the interview were “tongue in cheek.” However, it would seem that these comments are as sexist as they appear to be . It has been more than just women who have opposed this bill. Last month, Senators Mike Lee of Utah, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, and Ted Cruz of Texas released a joint statement opposing the bill and insisting that the bill be revised. All of which happen to be men.

Blake Farenthold already had a shady history with dating women a few years ago. In 2014, Lauren Greene filed a lawsuit against Farenthold. Greene, the former communications director for Congressman Farenthold, accused him of sexual harassment and creating an inappropriate work environment.

In her complaint, she said that he would, “drink in excess” and would constantly flirt. She also claimed that during a staff meeting, Farenthold disclosed information that a female lobbyist approached him about a “threesome.” Greene also learned from Emily Wilkes, Farenthold’s Executive Assistant, that Farenthold was attracted to her. So much so that he had “sexual fantasies” and “wet dreams” about her. Her complaint also stated that Farenthold continuously made remarks designed to see if Greene was interested in having a sexual relationship. The case was settled outside of court but the details of the complaint is still highly disturbing.

Unfortunately, prior to this Farenthold was demonstrating just how disgusting he was. Before he took office, Farenthold  operated a computer consulting company. The company would buy domain names including one called “Blow-me.org.” Just another example of Blake Farenthold’s character.

On numerous occasions, Blake Farenthold has shown a blatant lack of respect for women and it is completely unacceptable. His actions are disgusting and he has shown that he is not a leader. He refuses to attack the Republican men who oppose the bill yet is quick to blame women as the only cause for why the healthcare bill has not passed. It is incorrect and irresponsible. He will use any opportunity he can to degrade women or make them into sexual objects. His behavior is deplorable and distasteful, even for the GOP this is a new low.
